The location is right behind Vale do Lobo, on an almost 2 ha site. The ruin was on an agricultural reservation, which is highly restricted.
The size can be more than 300 m2, including terraces and a swimming pool. We are not allowed to increase any volume and had to keep the facade of the old building, for example. As well, the original ruin was just three separate buildings.
We connected them with ultra-modern glass boxes that show, for example, the old origin ruin through the glass. Or floating bridges in the mirror. Each room has a different view of the nature surrounding, unlike a typical villa, all focussing on the pool area.
The concrete porticos are framing the building on the site to keep the garden around the villa landscaped and around it ( as it is so big ) having a natural landscape.
The house has four suites, living, dining, snug, and a kitchen herb garden behind the kitchen.
Energy efficacy, solar, etc., are as well in this project standard as in my practice.
